Slash Tech acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their enduring connections to land, waters, skies, and community.
We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples we work alongside today.
We recognise that sovereignty was never ceded and honour First Nations peoples’ continuous care for Country and culture. We are committed to listening, learning, and taking practical steps toward meaningful reconciliation.
Respecting Traditional Custodians is not a line we read at the start of a meeting and then set aside. The work we do puts equipment on Country — sensors in catchments, gateways on remote infrastructure, monitoring across land and waterways that have been cared for continuously for tens of thousands of years. Where our work touches those places, the people with the longest relationship to them have knowledge we do not, and standing we should defer to.
In practice that means asking early who holds connection to the land a project will affect, making room for that input while decisions can still change, and being honest when we do not know. It also means the systems we hand over should be operable by the communities and organisations who live with their results, rather than dependent on people who visit once and leave.
